We are pleased to release designs of our future $130 million-dollar Salisbury South manufacturing facility. The development, which works will commence later this month, is the single largest infrastructure investment in the history of our South Australian family-owned business as we prepare for further expansion and growth.

“This project represents a significant milestone for Haigh’s, as it will see our current chocolate production capacity double, allowing us to meet increased demand and interstate growth opportunities, including entering new markets,” says Chief Executive Alister Haigh.

We plan for the state-of-the-art facility to be fully operational in the second half of 2025, accommodating up to 400 employees over the course of the growth phase including the creation of approximately 150 new jobs.

“Not only will this project directly create new jobs and opportunities at this site, it will facilitate employment growth across our retail business Australia-wide creating up to 250 new jobs in the medium and long term,” explains Chief Operating Officer, Peter Millard.

Encompassing 9,000m2 to house new production facilities and 6,000m2 for warehousing and online fulfilment, $36 million dollars of the project investment will go towards state-of-the-art European made equipment. This includes specialised panning, enrobing and moulding lines as well as kitchen and packing equipment chosen to complement its artisan chocolate making capabilities.

CIP Constructions have been appointed to oversee the development on the 36,000m2 site and will engage over 200 people to support the construction of the building which has been designed by BELL Architects.

“Today commemorates the start of construction on what will surely become one of Adelaide’s premium industrial facilities. Early works set to get underway include bulk earthworks and inground services before standing steel in early 2024,” says CIP Constructions Chief Executive Officer, Mark Hendry.

Haigh’s has grown substantially over our 108-year history, now employing more than 800 people.

We currently produce 1000 tonnes of chocolate across two existing manufacturing sites in Mile End and Parkside, which will remain home to our Head Office, artisan chocolate production and Visitor Centre. Presently, there are 21 Haigh’s stores across Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, as well as online.
